Barcelona's predicted starting XI for the next season

Thursday, July 10, 2014

Goalkeeper - Marc-Andre ter Stegen: After Victor Valdes recently decided to leave, they needed a keeper desperately.

They have signed very highly rated German goalkeeper from Broussia Monchengladbach and he is expected to get the nod over Barcelona's other new signing, Claudio Bravo.

Right back - Martin Montoya: With Dani Alves expected to leave, young Spainish defender Montoya looks likely to replace him.

His agent spoke a few weeks back saying he was unhappy with his game time. He should start at full-back next year.

Centre back - Gerard Pique - This is a big season for Pique, with Puyol gone, Pique is going to have to bark orders out and get his defence sorted.

You'd think he'd need a world class partner to be unstoppable.

Centre back - Mats Hummels: Maybe an unlikely transfer, but it could happen, especially if the Catalan club want to shore up their defence.

Borussia Dortmound's solid centre back has attracted eyes of many big clubs and Barcelona are one.

With Puyol gone, he'd be a great long term replacement for the former Barcelona captain.

Left back - Jordi Alba: When he is Injury free he is one of the World's best players in his position.

Great crossing ability, the guy is super fit and he is incredibly quick.

I'm sure we wiill see him keep his spot for next season and many years to come.

Central defensive midfielder - Sergio Busquets: Is there a better defensive midfielder than Sergio Busquets?

An outstanding midfielder that sits Infront of the back four, both protecting them and breaking up play.

He's not everyone's cup of team however once you put aside his play acting you realise he is a key man for Barcelona.

Centre midfield - Andreas Iniesta: There is no doubt in my mind that he will continue to delight on the pitch for Barcelona next season.

One of the best midfielders in the world and he is a main reason for Barca's success in recent seasons.

As shown in this summer's World Cup, Iniesta still has incredible vision and will form a lethal partnership with Ivan Rakitic next term.

Centre midfield - Ivan Rakitic: The signing of Rakitic could prove to be the difference for Barcelona next season.

With Xavi leaving, Rakitic will make the football they play a lot more exciting than the last term.

He's proved for Croatia during the World Cup that he's a class apart, and it'll be interesting to see how Rakitic and Iniesta link up for the Catalans next season.

Right wing - Lionel Messi: Lionel Messi didn't have his best season last term, but he still managed 36 goals in 36 games and 11 assists.

Now at the World Cup, he has scored four goals in three games, and laying rest to any critics he had before the tournament.

I believe that Messi will be back to his best next season.Watchout Europe.

Left wing - Neymar: Probably the worlds best youngster and already scoring the goals in for club and country at an alarming rate.

We saw glimpses of what he can do last season but didn't see it all. However, we have seen what he is capable of during the World Cup.

Next season is his time to shine. What a team this is! Champions league winners anyone?

Striker - Luis Suarez: With all the controversy happening around him after he bit Giorgio Chiellini, it's rumoured that Liverpool want to cash in on the Uruguayan.

Yes, he is banned till November, but there is no doubting his class.

Barcelona are rumoured to be ready to offer cash plus Alexis Sanchez to Liverpool for Suarez.

The signing of Suarez would ensure that Barcelona challenge on all fronts for trophies next term.
